Hawaii 2016 - Part 1

After 38 years of life I finally made it to Hawaii!!  After a year or so of Nate building up his skymiles we decided that we would all tag along with him to his quarterly visit to Hawaii (Oahu) in October. We planned the trip around Fall break so the kids wouldn't miss too much school.  We spent a wonderful 8 days exploring the island, enjoying the warmth and playing on the beach. We took plenty of pictures so I will have to divide up my posts to fit them all in. :)  Sorry for the travel log, but this is how I journal our lives!

The flight over was LONG.  Hazel didn't sleep much and didn't really want to be held while sitting down so Nate and I switched off wrestling, and entertaining her.  We were sure glad to land in Honolulu and get off the plane! We spent the rest of our day grabbing food, checking into the hotel, and letting the kids get to the beach.

Proof that Hazel went to Hawaii at 6 months old!

First sunset from Waikiki.

The view from our balcony.  We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian village resort.  It was awesome!

View from windward side of the island.  I took this out the car window as we were driving.  It was beautiful!

They had parrots and macaws around the resort so we grabbed a few pictures!

We had plenty of shaved ice at Nate's favorite shaved ice place!

My beach girl!  It wasn't the easiest having a baby at the beach but we made it work.  I think if I had to do it over again I would have waited until she was walking to take her on the trip.  It would have been more fun for her to be mobile instead of being stuck on a towel in the sand the whole time. :)

Watch our for falling palms!

Our first full day we headed to the windward side of the island to visit some sites and ended up at the Polynesian Culture Center.

China mans hat in the background.

We stopped at a macadamia nut plantation.  It was fun!  The kids got to break open macadamia nuts with rocks.  We also stocked up on our favorite kinds of macadamia nuts.

Gavin had to have a picture in the area where they filmed some of Jurassic Park.  :)

We also visited the Honolulu temple.  It was amazing! And we finally got a family picture! :)

Next up...Our day at the Polynesian Culture Center
