May flew by...School is out!!

May was a busy month, but I guess every month is busy now a days.  We had a bunch of rain in May which interfered with Soccer and Baseball, but it meant that May was a little less crazy than it could have been.  We spent some of the time trying to fix a flooding window well. Of course it happened when Nate was out of town. :(  But all is fixed and it won't happen again! So here is a quick summary of May!

The kids had field day in the middle of May.  Somehow they managed to plan it on a day that it didn't rain (although it was cold and looked like it was going to rain all day)  I tagged along with Ashlyn's kindergarten class.  It was fun! I just got a couple pictures of Ashlyn with her BFF Claire.

The 5th grade offers the opportunity to get the "Great American Award".  The students are given a list of things to pass off throughout the year to earn the award.  For example, Gavin had to memorize the Gettysburg Address, all the states and capitals, the preamble to the constitution, and the Star Spangle Banner to name a few.  I wasn't sure Gavin would take on the challenge, but his best friend wanted to do it so they worked together and got it done!  There were only 10 from his class.  Pretty awesome!

The last day of school came quickly.  The kids had great teachers again this year.  We are always sad to have to move on from them, but excited for new teachers in the Fall. Ashlyn is especially excited for 1st grade!! Yikes!

Gavin's Spanish teacher Miss Alsono.

After much rain we finally ended Ashlyn's soccer season.  It was fun to see her improve and gain confidence during the 6 weeks of games.  But I am glad to have our Saturday mornings back!

We finally got the rest of our garden in at the end of May.  It is so nice to have the extra space!  We can't wait for our harvest!
