I was wondering why December seemed to go so fast then I started looking at all my pictures and realized that we packed a ton of stuff in 4 weeks. No wonder it seemed like it was over before it started. Because I have so many pictures I will have to divide the December month into a few posts so I don't overload everyone with pictures! :)
So, in all the years (13) that we have been getting a real Christmas tree I have never documented the actual getting of the tree. I grabbed my phone and snapped a few pictures of the occasion. We got the tree the Friday after Thanksgiving and it was a balmy 60 degrees. Nate was in short sleeves! Crazy! The kids still insisted on having the free hot chocolate. :) It sure didn't feel like the right time to be getting a tree. I always wonder every year why we go through all the hassle and mess, but I do enjoy the tree (and smell) while it's up!
Decorating the tree!
My Christmas scene. I miss it already!
The first Monday of December we went and saw "A Christmas Carol" at the Hale Center Theater in Salt Lake. We haven't been for a few years and really enjoyed seeing it again. They made some improvements that made it even more fun than the previous times we have gone.
My pictures are a bit out of order and I am too lazy to change them, so the next Monday the boys had their Christmas piano recital. Both of them did awesome!
We were blessed to win the lottery and get tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert for the Thursday of the same week that we went to the play. It made for a busy week with some late nights, but it was awesome. We only got 4 tickets, but a wonderful friend who is in the choir was able to get us another one so we could all go. (and they were good seats too!) It was so fun and entertaining with the Sesame Street gang there. The kids really enjoyed it, although it was late and Ashlyn was exhausted. :) We took a little time while we were downtown to see the lights at Temple Square too!
This is a random picture I took one day while Gavin was practicing. Our cat Spike loves to sit on the piano bench while the boys practice. He is a funny/weird cat!
These are some beautiful flowers that my good friend gave me for my birthday. I loved having something blooming in the middle of December!!
Somewhere in all our coming and goings we found time to make and decorate cookies. It was fun, but I made too many cookies so we ended up not frosting all of them because we ran out of frosting!!
Coming up....Hess Family Christmas party, Kohl Family Christmas party, Christmas Eve and Christmas day!
