Gavin had his last day of Preschool on Wednesday. He is sad that it is over, but very excited to start kindergarten. On the evening of his last day they had a program. He did a great job. He has been singing all the songs for us for weeks so it was fun to finally see him perform them. We did get some of the program on video and a few (very few) pictures. I haven't figured out yet how to post video so I will just stick with pictures for now.
I know that technically Ashlyn is not 2 months until tomorrow, but I thought I better blog about it now or it wouldn't get blogged about for another week. Yes, we made it through two months. I haven't taken her to her 2 month appt. yet so I will post her stats when that happens. Ashlyn has been a great baby. She slept through the night a lot sooner that either of my boys and overall is a very happy baby. She loves to coo and smile and loves watching and listening to her brothers. She is a great eater and pretty much wants to eat about ever 3 hours during the day. In her 2 months of life she had been to a wedding, funeral, the zoo, and many stores. Luckily for me she slept through most of those occasions. We are so grateful to have our little princess with us!
I just LOVE 3 day weekends! I guess what I really love is having Nate home for more than 2 days. We started off the weekend by getting our garage shelves done. Nate got off work early Friday so we got them painted and fill them with our junk. We were very happy to discover that we don't have enough junk yet to completely fill them up. I'm sure in a few years they will be packed with junk. Nate did a great job on them, and I am so happy to have a clean, organized garage. (plus, we got our water barrels filled, so we won't die of thirst in an emergency! :) ) On Saturday we got up and went to a ward breakfast and then headed to the zoo. It was a perfect day for the zoo. We got there early enough to avoid the crowds that came later, and the weather was not too hot and not too cold. The boys loved seeing all the animals, but were most excited to see all the snakes. We saved the small animal exhibit for last. I believe it was the highlight of our zoo visit. We came home with two new stuffed animal snakes. (As if we didn't have enough snakes in our house already) Sunday was a nice relaxing day. We enjoyed a visit from Aunt Shelley in the afternoon and then we to the Farmington cemetery in the evening to see my Hess relatives that are buried there. Monday was spent doing our traditional Memorial Day stuff. We went to the Clearfield Cemetery to see my mom's side relatives that are buried there and then it was on to a park for some KFC for lunch and some fun park playing. We did manage to BBQ on Sunday and Monday so Nate felt like it was a successful Memorial Day weekend. Now I say, let summer begin!! :)
I think about updating our blog often, but never seem to find the time to do it. That doesn't mean I have lots to blog about, it just means that I think about things I could blog about, but are obviously not worth staying up late at night to write about. Anyways, I have wanted to get some pictures up of the boys first campout of the summer. It was our Stakes Fathers and Sons campout last weekend, but it wasn't very warm weather, so I convinced Nate to just campout in the backyard with the boys instead of going up into the mountains and freezing to death. Gavin and Liam were so excited that they didn't care where they were going to sleep in a tent, so the backyard was just fine. We even roasted marshmallows over the grill. Gavin wanted to go to bed at 7:00pm that night just to be in the tent. Wouldn't it be nice if he always wanted to go to bed that early? Nate said that when they finally went out to go to sleep the boys were SO giddy getting into their sleeping bags. They all slept well, but even Nate admitted that it was cold. (that is something we don't hear from Nate very often) I was so glad that they stayed close to home.
Not much else going on with us. Nate spent last Saturday and most of this week building shelves in our garage. They are all built and just need to be painted. I will post pictures soon of the finished product and the organized garage! We are looking forward to the long weekend. The weather and been just perfect this week, not too hot and not too cold. It is hard to believe that May is almost over. Gavin finishes Preschool next Wednesday then we will be in the full swing of summer! I can't wait!
I can't believe my little Ashlyn is already 6 weeks old. It has been a good six weeks even with the lack of sleep. I have felt so much better with this postpartum time than I did with either of my boys. Ashlyn is sleeping pretty well at night which helps me to get through the day. Gavin and Liam can't get enough of her. They are constantly in her face when she is awake and I am constantly tell them to be more quiet when she is sleeping. Luckily the weather has been nice so I just send the boys out in the backyard when she is sleeping. I'm so glad to be 6 weeks out from labor and delivery, now I can start feeling more normal again. (if there is such a thing as normal!) :)
Not much new going on with us. Nate's sister had her baby girl yesterday. That makes two grand daughters on the Kohl side with a third coming July. It is nice to have some girls after 4 boys!
My sister Aimee got married last Friday. It was a crazy, but wonderful day. I didn't get any good pictures of the bride and groom so I just thought I post a picture of my boys in front of the beautiful flowers around the temple. Temple Square is just gorgeous in the Spring!
Ashlyn is 5 1/2 weeks now. The time is just flyin'. I am getting pretty good sleep and actually have energy to do stuff during the day. I feel better than I did with either of the boys, so I am counting my blessings. The weather has been nice this week so we have been outside enjoying it. I can't wait to work more in the garden. We do have our peas growing and we just planted some pepper plants and carrot seeds. I think I'll wait a few more weeks to get everything else planted. I just love summer. I had to add a couple pictures that Nate's mom took while she was here. The boys just love their little sister!!
