The Lion King

Before Gavin started school we had the opportunity to take him to see Broadway's The Lion King. We bought the tickets clear back in January so it was fun to finally get to see the show. Gavin seemed to really like it. I enjoyed the creative ways they used to portray the animals. The whole show was pretty awesome. I didn't think we got any pictures because I forgot my camera, but Nate managed to get one on his mobile. (which is why the picture is so small) So here is me and my buddy Gavin in front of the Capitol Theater in Salt Lake.

1st Grade is Great!!

Gavin started 1st grade on Monday and loves it! He was so much more comfortable with starting school and having a new teacher and class than he was last year. I think the biggest adjustment is being there for 6+ hours. He loves eating lunch at school and most of all he loves having 3 recesses! He is starting with the Spanish immersion program this year so I guess it's time for me to starting relearning my Spanish! I couldn't get a decent picture of him on the first day so these will have to do.

Waiting for the teacher to come out and get him. They all line up with their classes and wait for the teacher to come bring them into the school.

The only way I could get him to look at the camera was to use my shadow to block the sun. So you get a picture of Gavin with my shadow. :)

Boondocks

We decided to do something fun last Saturday before school started so we checked out the Boondocks in Kaysville. We went to play mini-golf and had a great time! We didn't realize there is so much more to do there, so I'm sure we will have to make another trip there and try out some other stuff. Here are a couple pics of our outing.

Random Stuff

I realized I had some random pictures from July that I thought were blog worthy. The first one is of our beloved cat Spike. I had to grab this picture because this is one of his favorite spots to sleep (the other being the corner of Gavin's top bunk) and it looks so uncomfortable. He sits half his body on the couch and half on the banister. Strange?!

I took this picture in the car when we were going to Salt Lake one day. I tried to get it when it said 102 degrees, but I wasn't stuck in traffic and able to take the time to get my camera out and get the picture, so I settled for 100! (Don't worry my car doesn't need maintenance. The light comes on every 30,000 miles or so.) :)

This last picture is just another example of Ashlyn wanting to climb into and sit in everything she can. She get in boxes, bins, #10 cans, cake pans, etc. She loves to just climb in and sit (if she can). Sometimes her brothers give her a push which may be the reason for her obsession.

Take me out to the ballgame!

Last Monday my family all met and went to a Salt Lake Bees Baseball game for family home evening. We had a great time and great weather. The kids were a little more interested in the food and each other, but Nate and I enjoyed the game. Here are a few pictures of our fun!

Nate and I not thinking that the camera was taking a picture. :)

A little better picture, but not really. :)

Lagoon 2010

We told our kids that we weren't going to go to Lagoon this summer because we went to Disneyland in the Spring. Then we found out that my brother was going on his Stake Lagoon day so we decided to tag along to spend the day with cousins at Lagoon. It turned out to be a great day with the weather even being tolerable. Here are some pictures of our fun!

Liam on his boat. When we first got there the lines were really short so we got the boys on tons of rides.

Gavin in his boat.

First time on the cars. I'm not even sure how many times then ended up doing them. By the way, they were looking and waving at their cousins who had just arrived.

Gavin's first time on Puff. If you look close you can see a boy in the middle with his head down. Yep, that's Gavin! :)

Liam and his cousin Lizzy on the cars.

Liam and Lizzy on the merry-go-round.

Ashlyn probably had the least amount of fun because we didn't pay to have her go on rides so she spent the day in her stroller.

Boys on the rockets.

Nate and our nephew John waiting for re-entry on the rocket.

Liam and Lizzy with cousin Bethany's back waiting for the bumper cars to start.

David and Gavin on the octopus ride (I can't remember the correct name of it) :)

Bear Lake Week 2 in 2010

We just got home from our second week of Bear Lake fun. My whole family was there and it was a great reunion. We spent the week playing in the sand and water, riding wave runners, boating and eating a lot of good food. It was hard to come home and get back to reality. Can't wait until next summer!

The Boys and their cousin Bryce and Grandpa Hess after the annual "Grandpa Nature Walk"

If only I had the beach and water in my backyard, this girl would be entertained every hour of every day.

Liam chillin' in the sand.

Gavin the beach boy!

Nate's second sand castle of the week. (His first one collapsed before he finished it so he gave up on it)

Nate and his masterpiece. Once the castle was destroyed the mound of sand was great entertainment for the rest of the week!

Ashlyn in one of many holes dug by her cousins. She loved play in them.

Who knew a mound of sand could be so much fun?!
