January blahs...

I am glad to know that we only have one more week of January left. Of course, we still need to get through February, but then things tend to get better after that. January hasn't been too bad except that we have all been sick for the past couple weeks. It seems like we have had a few different bugs come through the house. (thankfully not any of them to do with the stomach) The boys are finally getting over their bad coughs so we are getting better sleep. Nate never really got any of the bugs. I guess that is the benefit of going to work everyday. I'm still fighting a nasty cough and stuffy nose, but I think the worst of it is over. I can't complain because we were so blessed to be healthy all through the holiday season. I guess we needed to take our turn with sickness. Anyways, enough about our boring lives. Here are some pictures of what we have been up to while confined to our house. We decided one night to break out our craft bin that the boys cousins, Soren and Ezra, gave them for Christmas. We all created birds out of various things from the bin. The boys had a ton a fun. Thank you Anna and family for the great gift.

This is as much of me as you are going to see for a few more months. :)

Another thing that was accomplished this month is that Gavin finally earned his Harry Potter Slytherin Robe. I think we bought it back in November and the challenge was for Gavin to read 7 books to earn it. (don't ask me why 7, that was Nate's decision) Anyways, he finally read his 7th book today and earned his new robe. Now we just have to figure out what will motivate Gavin to keep reading! :)

3 thoughts...

I haven't felt like I have had much to blog about lately hence the lack of postings this month. I did, however, today have some thoughts that I thought were blog worthy.

1. Something Fun: First of all is my Wii Fit. Yes, Nate gave me Wii Fit for Christmas and I love it. I don't love that it tells me I am overweight (duh, I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant), but other than that it is a really cool thing. I am excited to see what I can do once I don't have a huge belly and actually have some balance. There are some good balance exercises along with yoga, strengthening exercises, and aerobic stuff. Nate has been using it the past few nights and claims that he is actually sore. That is amazing since he is so fit. Anyways, that is my first thought.

2. Something cute: The second thing I wanted to share was a funny thing that Liam said today. We went to the distribution center today after dropping some stuff at the D.I. The boys saw the CTR rings so I bought them each one. Gavin explained to Liam that CTR stands for Choose The Right. I told them that the ring was to help them to remember to always choose the right. I thought I had done a pretty good job explaining CTR, but later on our drive home Liam said, "not choose the right, choose the left" :) I had a good laugh and then explained to him that we aren't choosing whether to go right or left, but CTR is about whether we are making correct choices or wrong choices. Don't you just love how little minds think?!

3. Something irritating: The last thought that I wanted to talk about or should I say vent about is the lack of modest, cute, maternity clothes. I am desperate for maternity clothes for church. Every Sunday I dread trying to figure out what I am going to wear. I have one black skirt that makes me look like I'm wearing a tent that I pretty much wear every week. It doesn't help that I also have to dress up once during the week for Relief Society Presidency meetings and visits. Nate didn't believe me about not being able to find a maternity skirt or dress, so we ventured out to the mall tonight and after much searching and trying on of maternity clothes I came home empty handed. Sure places have dresses and skirts, but sadly most of them are too short. So I am left with my one black skirt that screams I am pregnant. If there is anyone out there that knows a good place to find maternity dresses or skirts I would love some help!

We're Back!

After long day and three airplanes later, we made it back home on Friday night. We had great flying weather until we got to Salt Lake and then we hit the big snowstorm. We thought it was funny that we had such great weather until we got home, but we also felt blessed that it was the only bad weather we encountered. We had a wonderful time in Indiana. The time didn't go by too fast so it was a good vacation. Now as they always say, "we need a vacation to recover from our vacation"! The boys had a great time playing with their cousins, Grandma and Grandpa, and Aunts and Uncles. Gavin kept telling us on the way home that he wanted to go back to Grandmas. It was nice to sleep in our own beds again and be back in our own home. I have lots of pictures from our trip, but I will just post a few highlights. We made gingerbread houses one day, went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum (very cool and fun), and had a great Christmas. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Kohl for a great time!
